The Circle of Life: J. Lynn Croff Interview

Interview by KJ Nivin author/publisher with J. Lynn of the novel J. Lynn Croff - The China Affair:

Author: I have eight novels published on Amazon and Barnes & Nobel and three 12 Step Workbooks, a play called Vegan Vampires - Drac is Back, my autobiography, and a short story book. An author friend of mine said he interviews some of his characters and I thought that was a great idea. I want to start out with one of my recent books J. Lynn Croff - The China Affair.

(Applause......)

Author: Sounds like several of you have read it. Thank you. (Guys begin to whistle-J. Lynn walks on stage) Hello J. Lynn. Please have a seat. I see you have you're fans as well. Thank you for coming tonight. Congratulations on your new roll in The China Affair.

J. Lynn: Thank you KJ for creating me. I was only an idea once and now I am a full blown Character. Feels good to be here.

Author: You are most welcome J. Lynn. I know that 70% of the readers are women and they tend to like women sleuth novels so I wanted a character who was strong, but still maintained her feminine side. You were perfect for the part. The first thing I want to ask is about Detective King...Brad. You seemed to really like him and fairly soon after you met. Anything there between you two?

J. Lynn: It's too soon to tell but we seem to be kindred spirits. He is a rookie detective as you know, on his first case and of course I used to work for the Military CID which is similar and that gives us something in common. Good start I believe.

Author: So there's possibilities. (J. Lynn nods) It appeared that the China Affair brought you closer together and gave you closure for some of your past. You were unceremoniously railroaded from the military and that nearly devastated you. You had decided to become a spy and those above you conveniently changed your life.

J. Lynn: That's true and I don't want to give away too much of the book but after the China Affair I gained hope and perhaps love. Who knows?

Author: You and Brad are now working together on the next novel and moving into some dangerous territory. What would you say to your fans will be a reason to read this novel and the next?

J. Lynn: Well, I believe Brad and I have great chemistry together. We almost know what the other is thinking without a word. This gives us superior advantage over our enemies and brings us closer. We haven't had time to slow down and smell the roses yet but give time time is what I say. The China Affair allowed us to get acquainted. I believe he feels the same.

Author: Almost sounds like a marriage. Do... (J. Lynn interrupts)

J. Lynn: Hold on now...Detective King and I have just met and were thrown into a situation together so don't rush things. Although the idea sounds romantic....

Author: Well this is a good place to tell you...I have Brad King waiting back stage. Brad...Come on down. (J. Lynn looks around as Brad saunters over to the couch and sits down close to her. She is nothing but smiles. Brad takes her hand and kisses it and then kisses her on the cheek.)

Brad: Hello doll. Surprised?

J. Lynn: I didn't think you'd be out of the hospital this soon. Thank you for coming and I suppose you heard everything. (Brad smiles broadly.)

(Applause)

Author: You never know who's listening. Welcome Brad. Detective Brad King ladies and gentleman. Brad, how are you feeling?

Brad: Really excited. Our book is on Amazon and Barnes at 99 Cents electronic download. I have a new friend in J. Lynn but I must say, KJ, you left me with a lot of unfinished business with my last relationship and it was quite shocking to find out that....OK, I won't give the book away but things are looking up now... I must say...(Brad looks at J. Lynn and caresses her shoulder. J. Lynn blushes but is eating it up. You can see the chemistry boiling.)

Author: The book is one hundred pages...short for a novel but it is considered a "Beach Book." Part two is in the mill. You download it to your Kindle, Nook, cell phone, or the like and read the book as you enjoy the beach. Should be short enough that you finish it in one setting. Nice time of the year for the beach. Part two connects with Clock Jumpers Return-World Within Worlds. Should be fun.

J. Lynn: Virginia Beach is beautiful. Warm during the day and cool at night. Low 70's. Mid 80's. KJ you haven't given me time to enjoy the beach with all of the excitement in the book. I will enjoy myself between novels. Brad is coming over and helping me paint my new beach house....aren't you Brad...

Brad: Well, I have two left feet but I can certainly paint and the good thing about it is that I work for Grande Lattes. Just treat me a couple of times a day at Starbucks and I'm yours. I'm the ultimate cheap date...

(Applause)

Author: Brad, for your first case where you were the lead Detective, you surly got more than you bargained for didn't you?

Brad: Yes, a simple drowning turned out to be much much more than I had anticipated. Thanks to J. Lynn, the body didn't slip between the cracks. Sometimes things that look obvious can be deceiving. It's best not to operate only from ones own point of view. J. Lynn has a knack for stepping into other peoples shoes to look at what is real. That is one of her strong points I believe.

J. Lynn: Thank you Detective. I look forward to working with you. It has been a pure pleasure so far.

Brad: Like wise J. Lynn. KJ, when do you anticipate we start the next book?

Author: Well, my Grandson Skylar is visiting from Jersey and we're going to the beach, playing computer games, and telling kids jokes. We're a pair. He is nine years old and is writing his first book. (Applause) Sky has a small recorder and I am typing his words...of course I am making a few...minor corrections but I want it to be his so...He is down here for the summer and so our goal is to get it written, formatted, and published before he goes back to school. He will return home a published author at nine years old. He did help me with Legion of One and is actually Johnel Anderson, the main character of Legion 1 & 2. Stand by.

J. Lynn: KJ, I've heard a rumor you have connecetd The China Affair with one of your next series: Book 2 of the Clock Jumpers series. Do you have the name picked out for book 2?

Author: Yes, book 1 is Clock Jumpers-From Here To Eternity and book 2, the one connected to your series, is called Clock Jumpers Return-World Within Worlds. You will soon merge in book 3 with that series. Your storyline is coming to some strange experiences. Good luck is all I can say.

Brad: That will be great working with Detective Annen Scott. I know him personally. We all are anxious to meet his girlfriend from the 23rd century, Katia and of course we can't forget Dr. Chi...he's quite a guy.

J. Lynn: Hey that rhymes. (J. Lynn laughs) Brad and I can't wait to work with them. Thank you KJ.
